Our family and two others who are adopting from the same orphanage had this cake delivered for their forever family party.  Charlotte is the one feeding herself in the first picture, in the woman’s lap in the upper right, and in the middle in the lower two.

I have borrowed this post (and adapted it slightly) from an adoptive mom, Rushton, who traveled to China last spring to bring home her beautiful daughter. It is well written and I truly appreciate her allowing me to post this on our blog. As we prepare to leave for China, I would like to prepare our friends and family about what to expect when we get home. Obviously, bonding with.... READ MORE

(posted by Carrie) Publish His glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things He does. 1 Chronicles 16:24 Are you considering adoption? If hearing Charlotte’s plight compelled your heart to learn more about adoption, here are some things to think about: Are you wondering how adopting just one or two children in literally a sea of millions of orphans will ever make a difference? And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” There was never a question about domestic vs. International for us. We.... READ MORE

(originally posted by Carrie in July 2011) James 1:27 “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” While not every family is called to adopt, as Christians, we are all expected to do something and not turn a blind eye to the plight of children around the world. I turned.... READ MORE

(originally posted by Carrie in July 2011) I’ve learned to never say what I won’t do. I told Joey before we got married that if he wanted someone who was going to homeschool his kids, that person was NOT me. It’s funny how when we finally give in to doing what the Lord wants us to do, he can make it so that we want to do the thing he’s.... READ MORE
